Dr. Alicja Steiner is a leading specialist in San Diego, CA, providing patients in the Greater San Diego metropolitan area with skilled, compassionate care for a broad range of medical issues. Dr. Steiner is committed to ensuring each patient receives customized treatment based on their individual health needs and goals. At her centrally-located office, patients can also receive minimally invasive cosmetic treatments including BOTOX and injectable fillers.

After completing her undergraduate degree in Poland, Dr. Steiner earned her medical degree at the Medical University of Warsaw where she was named lecturer in the Department of Human Anatomy and Biochemistry. She served as a faculty at Harvard University (Boston, Massachusetts) and the University of California San Diego (San Diego, California). Dr. Steiner had a residency in General Surgery and Anesthesiology at the Cabrini Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Steiner also had a Fellowship in Pain Management at New York University Medical Center.

Dr. Steiner has been widely published and has lectured extensively, and was twice honored with the Physician’s Recognition Award Of the American Medical Association.

Dr. Steiner is a Certified Wellness Instructor and a Certified Aesthetic Consultant. She also has certification in Intravenous Nutritional Therapy and Aesthetic Medicine.

Dr. Steiner is an active member of the community. She supports the Mission of Father Joe and the Aiglon International Boarding School in Switzerland. She also fundraises for the City Ballet of San Diego.

Dr. Seth Katzen is a double board-certified physician in Interventional Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of spine, musculoskeletal, and chronic pain conditions.

Dr. Katzen completed his ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pain Medicine through the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of California, San Diego. Prior to fellowship, he completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident.

His approach to patient care emphasizes identifying the underlying source of pain and developing individualized treatment plans focused on restoring function and improving quality of life. He utilizes a multidisciplinary, opioid-sparing approach and incorporates advanced interventional techniques when appropriate. His clinical interests include interventional spine care, neuromodulation, musculoskeletal medicine, regenerative medicine, and minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of acute and chronic pain conditions.

Dr. Katzen also has a strong interest in advancing the fields of interventional pain and musculoskeletal medicine through clinical research. His research and clinical work have been published and presented at national and international meetings.

Daniel Coulter, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 15 years of experience providing comprehensive psychiatric care to adults across a wide range of treatment settings. As a trusted San Diego psychiatrist, Dr. Coulter specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of both common and complex conditions, helping patients achieve greater stability, wellness, and quality of life through evidence-based care.

As part of the team at Steiner MD, Dr. Coulter works closely with patients to help them navigate mental health challenges and achieve lasting wellness. His experience across outpatient and inpatient settings has equipped him to treat a variety of mental health concerns, from common conditions like anxiety and depression to more complex psychiatric needs.

Throughout his career, Dr. Coulter has served as a staff psychiatrist in California, Texas, Arizona, and Pennsylvania, working with adults experiencing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, trauma-related conditions, and other challenging psychiatric illnesses. His background includes leadership roles coordinating multidisciplinary treatment teams and managing care for patients with serious and persistent mental health conditions.

Dr. Coulter earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Creighton University and completed his Psychiatry Residency at Penn State University. He has been Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 2012 and has held an active California medical license since 2015.

Dr. Benjamin Vanderschelden is a board-certified psychiatrist with extensive experience delivering mental health care across diverse clinical environments, including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, emergency departments, high-security state prisons, and county jail systems. He earned his medical degree as the top graduating student of his class from the University of California, Irvine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Western Psychiatric Hospital, during which he founded and led the Interventional Psychiatry Concentration program, specializing in treatments such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), intranasal esketamine, and intravenous ketamine therapy.

Dr. Vanderschelden's research spans neuromodulation, late-life and adolescent depression, stroke recovery, and global health, with presentations at multiple national conferences. He has been recognized with awards from the Clinical TMS Society and the International Society of ECT and Neurostimulation (ISEN) for his contributions to the field of interventional psychiatry.

His clinical practice emphasizes evidence-based, compassionate, and collaborative care, with a strong focus on clear communication and making mental health information accessible and practical for diverse audiences.

Dr. Autumn Phillips, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist who has specialized in pain management for nearly 20 years. She has worked closely with Dr. Steiner for many years, coordinating evidence-based treatments to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Phillips understands that pain often extends beyond physical sensation, encompassing emotional and psychological suffering that can impact many areas of life. If you are referred for a consultation, you will participate in a one-time appointment designed to assess your pain and its effects on your daily functioning. Following the evaluation, Dr. Steiner and her team will receive comprehensive documentation to support treatment planning and ensure access to all appropriate care options, which may include opioid therapy when clinically indicated.

Dr. Phillips earned her doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in 2008. She completed her postdoctoral training at Scripps Clinic and, since becoming licensed, has worked in both hospital and clinical settings delivering patient-centered care.

Dr. Santiago Osorio, PT, DPT, OCS, CKTP is a physical therapist with over 14 years of experience in outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation. He specializes in chronic pain, spine care, joint dysfunction, post‑operative recovery, regenerative therapies, post‑concussion treatment, multiple sclerosis, and stroke rehabilitation.

He earned his biology degree from Ramapo College and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Rutgers University. Dr. Osorio is board‑certified in orthopedics and holds advanced certifications in shockwave therapy, MLS 6, Blood Flow Restriction Training, 3D MAPS, and Kinesio Taping. He is also pursuing manual therapy certification through the University of St. Augustine.

His three years at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton strengthened his diagnostic and palpation skills, allowing him to identify subtle tissue abnormalities—skills that once helped prompt the early detection of a patient’s breast cancer.

Outside the clinic, he enjoys working out, spending time with his wife, and hanging out with his dog.
